The Centaur 12/80 (3) from Victron Energy is a premium battery charger designed for 12V batteries. With three charging outputs and a maximum charging current of 80A, you can flexibly distribute the charging power across the batteries. No matter where you are, thanks to the wide input voltage range of 90-265 V AC, the Centaur can be used worldwide without any special settings required.

Quality Without Compromise
The Centaur 12/80 is housed in a robust aluminum casing with epoxy powder coating, offering protection against condensation. The mounting parts are made of stainless steel, allowing the device to withstand the harshest conditions such as heat, humidity, and salt-laden air. Additionally, the circuit boards are protected against corrosion by an acrylic coating. Temperature sensors ensure that all components operate within the optimal temperature range and automatically reduce the output current in extreme conditions if necessary.
Three-Stage Charging Characteristic with Temperature Compensation
The charging process occurs in three phases: First, charging is done with constant current (Bulk) until the charging current drops to 70% of the nominal value. This is followed by a four-hour constant voltage phase, followed by a maintenance charging phase. The charging voltage is regulated by an internal temperature sensor (-2mV/°C per cell). The total charging current is distributed across the three outputs, with each output providing full power when only one battery is connected.
Compatibility with Different Battery Types
The Centaur 12/80 is suitable for various battery types. The default setting is designed for Gel batteries, but other batteries such as lead-acid or AGM can be used by a simple adjustment at the DIP switch (located at the bottom left behind the front panel).
