The Smart BMS 12/200 from Victron Energy is the ideal solution for your smart Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries (LiFePO4) in 12V systems. This compact and robust system combines the functions of a current limiter, battery coupler, and battery monitor in one device, which was specially developed for use with alternators.

Protection Functions

The Smart BMS 12/200 protects not only the starter battery but also the connected alternators and battery systems. It ensures that the input current is electronically limited to approx. 90% of the fuse value to prevent overloads. This keeps your LFP battery safe and protected.

Load/Battery Charger Output / Input

Via the SYSTEM+ terminal, you can both charge and discharge the LFP battery, with a maximum continuous current of 200A. This terminal is short-circuit proof and allows direct connection of DC loads. In case of impending cell undervoltage, discharging is automatically stopped.

Lithium-Ion Battery Protection

The Smart BMS regulates excessive input voltages and protects the cells from overvoltage and over-temperature. It offers three outputs:

• Load Disconnect Output:
• Pre-alarm Output: Sends a warning signal in case of low battery voltage.
• Charge Disconnect Output: Controls chargers and protects against overvoltage.

Remote On/Off Port

The remote On/Off port enables control of the charging process via the alternator, while the BMS functionality remains independent. This can be easily configured via the VictronConnect app.
