Victron Energy VE.Bus BMS
Victron Energy VE.Bus BMS Battery Management System
The VE.Bus BMS from Victron Energy is a specially developed battery management system, designed for Victron Lithium Smart Batteries. It protects every single cell of a LiFePO4 battery from overvoltage, undervoltage, and overtemperature, to ensure the safety and longevity of your battery bank.
Core Functions Of The Victron VE.Bus BMS
- Designed for use with Victron LFP Smart 12.8V & 25.6V Batteries.
- Switches off loads when cell undervoltage is imminent.
- Reduces charging current when cell overvoltage or overtemperature is imminent (for VE.Bus products only).
- Switches off battery chargers when cell overvoltage or overtemperature is imminent.
- Connects up to 5 batteries connected in parallel and up to 4 batteries connected in series.
Interaction With Victron LiFePO4 Batteries
The Victron LiFePO4 batteries feature integrated cell balancing, temperature, and voltage control (BTV). These batteries are connected to the VE.Bus BMS via two M8 round connector cable sets. Up to five batteries can be connected in parallel and up to four batteries in series to create a powerful 48V battery bank of up to 1500 Ah. Communication With VE.Bus Products
The VE.Bus BMS can be connected to various Victron inverter devices such as MultiPlus, Quattro, or Phoenix. The connection is made via a standard RJ45 UTP cable.
Control Of Other Products
Load Disconnect (Disconnect Load)
The "Load Disconnect" output is normally HIGH and is set to "free floating" when cell undervoltage is imminent. Maximum current: 2A. This output can be used to:
- remotely switch a load on or off, and/or
- remotely switch an electronic load switch (BatteryProtect) on or off.
Charge Disconnect (Disconnect Charge)
The "Charge Disconnect" output is normally HIGH and becomes "free floating" when cell overvoltage or overtemperature is imminent. Maximum current: 10 mA. This output can be used to:
- remotely switch a charger on or off, and/or
- control a Cyrix-Li-charger relay and/or a Cyrix-Li-ct battery coupler.
