The current transformer 100 A:50 mA from Victron (MPN CTR120000500) is the latest extension to the MultiPlus-II / MultiGrid-II series. In contrast to its predecessor, it features a wire end instead of a connection socket, which facilitates installation. This transformer enables the implementation of the PowerControl and PowerAssist function and optimizes self-consumption through external current measurement.

PowerControl - Optimization of the Power Supply

The PowerControl function helps you to optimize your power supply with limited AC current. The MultiPlus-II can deliver a high charging current, which means a heavy load for the AC supply or the generator. You can set a maximum current, and the MultiPlus-II considers the current consumption to use the remaining amount of current for battery charging.

PowerAssist - Extended Usage Options

The PowerAssist function takes the PowerControl principle to a new level. It enables the MultiPlus-II to support an alternative energy source that is too weak. Load peaks often occur only for a short time, and in such cases, the MultiPlus-II ensures that insufficient AC grid or generator power is immediately compensated by energy from the battery. When the load decreases, i.e., when consumers are switched off, the excess energy can be used again to charge the batteries.
