How Does It Work?
The Smart Battery Sense measures the voltage directly at the battery terminals to avoid errors due to cable resistance. For lead-acid batteries, the battery temperature is used to adjust the charging voltages: Cold batteries require a higher charging voltage, while hot batteries require a lower charging voltage. For lithium batteries, the device stops the charging process if the temperature is too low to prevent permanent damage.
Wireless Communication
The connection between the Smart Battery Sense and one or more solar chargers is established wirelessly via the VE.Smart Network, which is based on Bluetooth Smart. The transmitted data can be used simultaneously by multiple solar chargers connected to the same battery bank. The Smart Network is easily set up via the VictronConnect App.
Installation
The installation of the Smart Battery Sense is straightforward and quick. Simply attach the two cable lugs to the battery terminals and mount the device directly on the battery with the included self-adhesive strip.
